Olympic, Asian Games Medal Winners Will be Offered ACS & APS Rank: Assam Government

The Assam Government will offer Rs. one crore and Government employment of Magistrate, DTO or DSP rank to those players who will win medal in Olympic and Rs. 50 lakhs and Government job of inspector rank to the players who will win medals in Asian Games.

And on that note, the state government has decided to appoint country’s leading athlete Hima Das as deputy superintendent of police (DSP).

In this regard, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal said, “Our Government has earmarked special budgetary allocation this year for the sake of promoting sports activities and to give enough exposure to all our budding sports talents of the State. We have planned carrying out the sports and extra curricular activities from the Panchayat level in every revenue village under respective Development Block upto district level in the State for the development of sports and exposure of our own talents.”

“In an encouraging move, this time, our Government has planned to set up a Sports University, first of its kind in the State, with a view to promote the sports are of the State focusing to turn Guwahati as the sports hub,” the CM added.

Further, a sum of Rs 1,000 crore will be allocated for Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Yojana (SVYEY), which will enable the youth to get actively engaged in various economic activities without leaving their native places.
